Based in Trinidad and Tobago, Melanie Archer is a freelance graphic designer (with a strong preference for editorial design), partner/co-editor of Robert & Christopher Publishers, and co-founder of Design Objective. She also writes on art, design, and culture and her articles have appeared in PRINT magazine, The Caribbean Review of Books, Caribbean Beat, Small Axe online, and ARC Magazine. Melanie was the art director of the trinidad+tobago film festival (2010-2015) and co-curator of its New Media programme of experimental works (2012-2015). Melanie’s other curatorial experience includes the exhibitions “Public Spaces” (2012, Port of Spain, based on the work of architect Colin Laird) and “Pictures from Paradise” (2014, Toronto, a survey of contemporary Caribbean photography). She has a Bachelor of Architecture (magna cum laude) as well as an MFA with a design/book studies emphasis. Melanie is also a part-time lecturer in art and design – both undergraduate and graduate levels – at UWI, St. Augustine.
